Images with MRTG, RRDTool and routers2.cgi

Hi everyone,

I've been using MRTG and PHP weathermap for a good while now with
standard MRTG data files and everything is all fine and I love it.

I've recently decided I'd like to switch to using RRDTool instead, and
have got a dev instance set up and am using Steve Shipway's routers2.cgi
 and again all is cool.

Now I've come to tweak my weathermap to use the RRDs, and I'm
successfully drawing links of the right colour based on the RRDs etc,
and I thought I was nearly there until I came to the OVERLIBGRAPH bit,
and I've realised that now I'm using RRDs, and my images are drawn on
the fly, I don't have a handy .png file in my web tree to point
weathermap at.

I must admit I totally didn't think of this, and one of the reasons I
want to switch to RRDTool is so I'm not constantly drawing graphs until
we need them, but now I'm thinking that will never work unless I can
also create them on the fly when someone mouseovers my weathermap.

Does anybody else have a similar setup to mine, and if so how do you
draw your graphs?

Regards,

Dunc
